New 'What's Inside Guide' toolkit launched for dietitians to help patients balance their diets
A new resource for dietitians has been launched by the food industry aimed at assisting people to choose a healthy diet. Developed with input from independent dietitians and nutritionists, the toolkit is designed to help dietitians encourage patients to gain an understanding of the new front of pack labelling scheme, called the 'What's Inside Guide'. This labelling scheme is based on Guideline Daily Amounts (GDAs) and is aimed at encouraging consumers to use the information to help themselves towards a healthier diet.
The toolkit consists of two elements:
- a desktop presenter to aid dialogue with patients on the 'What's Inside Guide' and provide practical ways in which patients can use the guide.
- a complimentary leaflet, which includes further information on how GDAs were developed and their scientific basis and an explanation of how these have been used to develop the 'What's Inside Guide'.
The Food and Drink Federation's Nutrition Manager, Gaynor Bussell commented: "In the current climate of rising obesity rates, dietitians are ideally placed to empower patients to make more informed food choices and help them understand how their diets can be improved through being more aware of what's inside their food and what their limits should be. The GDA toolkit is a great way to help us demonstrate the practical benefits of GDA labels to our patients so that they can then see more clearly how to make simple changes to improve their diet."
The 'What's Inside Guide' Toolkit is available to order free by calling 020 78209764 or by emailing your request to susie.mowat@munroforster.com
